Giving your customers the ability to pay you for your products and services in multiple ways is essential for keeping your business alive in this modern era. That makes an app-only solution like Surfpay ideal for small businesses who want to accept contactless card payments on their smartphone without any extra hardware, making it more cost-effective and easier to get started. It’s easier than ever before to add multiple payment methods thanks to the payment terminal being an app inside your phone. It could be an invoice, direct payment, account-to-account, or any other payment method that is relevant in your area of business. You could either add a Bluetooth-connected dongle that has the possibility of accepting those methods, or you could offer the customer another payment method if their card does not support contactless payments. Since the smartphone accepts the card payment through the contactless-enabled Near Field Communication (NFC), the older card payment methods including a dip of a chip, or swipe of a magnetic stripe are no longer possible for the merchant.īut don’t worry, there is a solution for that as well. The biggest one is the lack of a chip or swipe acceptance of the card. This sounds like the best thing since sliced bread, doesn’t it? We think so, too! But there are of course disadvantages that we need to bring up. Instead of putting their hard-earned money into an expensive and old terminal, they can just download an app, go through the onboarding process and become ready to accept card payments - within minutes! To learn more about how Surfpay works, take a look at this article » So for any small-, or micro-merchant, this solution becomes a game-changer. What this also means is that the same app can implement functionalities like other payment methods, dashboard view of transactions, digital receipts, and much more. This means that the smartphone app can process contactless card payments without any limitations. Thanks to that, the need for a physical PIN pad in a card terminal became redundant, opening up the opportunity for creating an app-only solution for smartphones. It all started with PCI updating their standards, enabling PIN on Glass to be accepted as an authentication method. This means you can accept card payments with your smartphone, without the need for any extra hardware. It works by using the NFC chip in your mobile device to emulate the card terminal. Surfpay is a mobile payment solution that allows merchants to accept card payments on their mobile devices. Contactless payments are also a more convenient way of paying because in a lot of cases you do not have to enter your pin number. Contactless payments take a matter of seconds, compared to a traditional card payment that can take a few minutes. Contactless payments include not only a classic plastic card, but also digital cards like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.Ĭontactless payments are growing in popularity for a number of reasons, but the most obvious reason is speed. If you're looking to take payments in your business, you should consider accepting contactless payments. The technology is already in place in most shops and supermarkets, and it's something that we're going to see a lot more of in the coming years. They're convenient and secure, and we can see them taking over from cash and older card payments in the very near future. Why contactless?Ĭontactless payments are the way of the future. It’s a quick and easy way to accept payments, and you don’t need a payment terminal to use it. Surfpay is an app that allows you to accept card payments on your smartphone. Luckily, there is now a solution to accepting card payments without a payment terminal, through a piece of software called Surfpay. However, if you don’t have a payment terminal, you may have found yourself wondering how you can accept card payments. The majority of your customers will prefer to use a card to pay for their goods and services. Accepting card payments has become a key part of running a business. I’ve seen a lot of undermining of the DIT / Data Wrangler Role where Producers or Production Managers try and save some money by doing data themselves or farming it out to the runner who already has 300 other things to do. We are humans, not robots, so I take a layered approach where I am always cross checking myself and the software. ![]() Often times you will get interrupted while running your quality control checks and have to come back to it, when starting and stopping tasks like this it’s easy to forget where you are up to or to make mistakes and miss things. ![]() My process factors in the human condition and has lots of contingencies built in that allows for human error and software error. Copy and Verification Software has your back, it performs checksums to verify your offloads, creates detailed reports and produces a paper trail that can be referenced later. If you make a mistake there is no one there to call you out until it is too late. I work primarily in TVCs and I’m often in situations where you are managing big data on multi-million dollar commercials and no one else is checking your work. When working as a DIT or Data Wrangler you are responsible for the data integrity of a project. Why is it important to use copy and verification software and what are your recommended practices for doing it? I want to be able to recommend the fastest and safest offload tool so I decided to run an experiment and pit the four big players against one another. Over the past few weeks I’ve been testing out our new Data Deluxe System and as always, speed is a priority. For the rest of the job I used Silverstack and it has been my software of choice ever since. When you are doing 1TB Offloads this 100MB/s equates to a massive time-saving. This was using the exact same drive, media, and connection configuration. The specifics I have archived in my email but I believe we were getting around 100MB/s faster offloads with Silverstack compared to Shotput Pro. So I decided to grab a trial version of Silverstack XT and run some tests. I recall offloading with Shotput Pro and thinking it wasn’t as fast as it should be. Standalone I was getting around 600MB/s off the RAID Drives. We were using the Codex Vault XL coupled with a MacBook Pro and 2x 5 Bay RAID 5 Drives. If there was any job worthy of testing out a different data management system, it was this one. I had been curious about Silverstack for a while but had never given it a red hot go. I believe this was before Hedge was on the scene and I wasn’t aware of YoYotta. It was one of the first jobs in the country to use this new camera system and there was a lot of prep work and learning to be done as we figured out the best way to manage bucket loads of data while traveling from state to state on a very tight schedule.īefore the job, I had been a dedicated Shotput Pro user. Why did you decide to look more deeply into copy and verification software?Ī few years ago I did a TVC all around Australia using the Alexa 65. Here are the questions I posed to Bradley. They all got back to him and posed some questions bringing new information to the surface which he looked into and then decided to run the tests again. He compiled his results into a detailed blog post and sent it through privately to each respective developer. I caught up with Bradley Andrew from Filmdrives to ask him some questions and to show you his super in-depth article comparing some of the most popular copy and verification software.īradley recently ran some tests comparing the offload speeds of Shotput Pro, Silverstack, Hedge and YoYotta. What if I was to tell you that is not the case. You might be under the impression that all copy and verification software must do the same thing in the same way, and take the same amount of time to complete. ![]() These are the various types of mirrors that you can purchase at WallMantra: Wall Mirrors There are a variety of mirrors in various dimensions, shapes and borders to match your style. Revised: After being told by one Promise tech support staff member that the failed Time Machine support was a known issue, another insisted that there is no such known issue and Time Machine works fine. For those that don't encounter these errors, it looks like a useful device for the money - certainly cheaper and more secure than third-party cloud services. Still, I was able to do so, so I'm giving them a better rating (which I could do a half-star). But it shouldn't take a NASA Computer Engineer with console-analyzing skills to get an "appliance" like this running properly.
